Module 1 - The Mirror
When a farmer pushes back, most of us have a gut reaction. This module helps you spot yours, and understand what the farmer is actually protecting when they say no. Leaving the yard without a signed-off plan isn't always failure. Sometimes it's progress.
Module 2 - The Presence
Most of us can tell when a conversation is going sideways - we just don't catch it early enough. This module shows you how to spot the signals before the shutters come down, listen in a way that actually gets you somewhere, and correct course mid-visit without making it awkward.
Module 3 - The Farmer's World
A farmer's decision about whether to change something isn't made in a vacuum. There's always a bigger picture, and this module gives you a way into it. You'll learn how to ask the right questions to get underneath an objection, and how to feed back what you're hearing in a way that makes the farmer feel understood rather than analysed.
Module 4 - The 4 Common Losses
When a farmer says no, they're usually protecting something. This module gives you a framework for working out what - whether that's their sense of control, their confidence in their own ability, their certainty about the future, or simply who they are as a farmer. Once you know which one you're dealing with, you stop pushing and start working with it instead.
Module 5 - The Architect
Most of us turn up with a plan and hope the farmer says yes. This module shows you a better way - how to build the recommendation with the farmer rather than for them, in language that connects to what they actually care about. The result is a plan they've had a hand in. Which means they're far more likely to do something with it.
Module 6 - The Closer
A good visit that ends with "I'll think about it" isn't a result. This module is about finishing every farm visit with a proper next step - specific, agreed, and owned by the farmer. Plus what to do when the plan doesn't go as expected, without making it awkward or losing the relationship you've built.
About Amy Hughes
I grew up on a beef and sheep farm in North Yorkshire. I have a PgDip in Agricultural Science & Production Systems and a PgCert in Sustainable Livestock Production. I've worked for 18 years in British Agriculture, doing exactly what you do: trying to get change on farm when the evidence alone wasn't enough.
I'm an accredited interpersonal mediator, a qualified Mental Health First Aider, I've spoken at National and International conferences, and I'm a writer and podcaster.
